Key Problems Identified

  • Dealing with cumbersome and time-consuming rental processes

  • Wasting time calling around to different rental companies for quotes and availability

  • Traditional rental companies often have limited weekend hours or inconvenient locations

Design Process

Design Process

First I empathized with users on the issues they were facing. Then I went ahead to define what exactly those problems were and the solutions to the problems. I went forward to bring ideas on how to bring life the solutions found. Then designed the lo-fi and then the hi-fi and went on to prototype the app. I then tested with real life users and made some changes to the original design until they were satisfied.

Conclusion/Lessons Learned

While this project is still in the planning stages, there are still valuable lessons to be learned throughout the development and execution process:

  • User-centric design is key: Throughout the entire process, prioritize the needs and pain points of both renters and owners. Conduct user research, gather feedback, and tailor the app's features and functionalities to address their specific challenges.

  • Striking a balance is crucial: Aim to balance user experience with necessary information gathering and verification steps during sign-up and app usage. Ensure the process is smooth and efficient without compromising security or data integrity.

  • Embrace data and analytics: Leverage data collected through app usage to gain valuable insights into user behavior, rental trends, and equipment popularity. Use these insights to continuously improve the app, optimize features, and make data-driven decisions for future development.

  • Communication and collaboration are essential: Foster open communication and collaboration between all stakeholders involved, including developers, designers, testers, potential users, and future partners. This ensures a well-rounded product that meets the needs of the market.

  • Adaptability is necessary: Be prepared to adapt your plans and features based on user feedback, market trends, and unforeseen challenges. Agile development methodologies and continuous improvement approaches will be crucial for the app's long-term success.
